Meet the Dogs!
Meet the Dog Pack of Caring Counseling Ministries!
Meet Snickers, a dapper miniature Schnauzer. Once an outcast due to his large ears and nervous tics, he now embraces his idiosyncrasies by helping others. With the gifts of enthusiasm and encouragement, Snickers can be seen frolicking about with his favorite toy, making someone laugh, or comforting an individual. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family. We envision his favorite Bible verses may be, “Ye know this my beloved brethren. But let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath.” -James 1:19 & "He that hath ears to hear, let him hear." -Matthew 11:15
Meet Pabu, a 12 year old Shih Tzu, who has never had a hard day in her life. However, life once attempted to knock her down. Through God, she was resilient. In 2019, Pabu had a ruptured tendon on her knee. She was taken to a local veterinarian for a pre-surgery consult. There was a concern Pabu would have to go through a major surgery. She came into Caring Counseling Ministries to be prayed over. The receptionists, counselors, and even two young children laid their hands on Pabu, saying “In Jesus' name, be healed.” The next morning Pabu was dropped off for her surgery and soon got a phone call from the vet stating, “Her knee is stable as a rock.” Long story short, Pabu was healed! (Amen) Instead of a major surgery, Pabu only had a teeth cleaning. Full of wisdom, Pabu does not sugarcoat the truth. Now she is back where it all happened, and here to tell her story. Because of her testimony, we envision she believes God even cares about the small things in our lives. God takes care of His children, including you. In her free time, Pabu enjoys eating, playing, sleeping, and spending time with her family. We imagine her favorite Bible verse would be, “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” - 1 Corinthians 10:31
There’s no need to fear, Miss Molly is here! Molly is living proof that no matter how horrific the start, it’s the finish that matters. Found on the mean streets of Carbondale, IL by the dog catcher, she went in to the Humane Shelter half starved, abused, and with a horrific case of PTSD that had her scared of her own shadow. Once she was rescued and loved, she blossomed in to a loving and well-adjusted dog.
She now gives back to the community by giving wags and sympathetic looks to whoever will give her a treat. If the treat is good enough, she will also sit with you while in session and let you stroke her ears.
Meet Sammie, the Shih Tzu! She has always lived the simple life. Born with sheer curiosity, Sammie has always wondered if the grass REALLY is greener on the other side. She strives to be a leader rather than a follower. She once attempted to become the pack leader, but barked up the wrong tree!
Now, Sammie is here to teach some lessons:
1. It is perfectly okay to be a leader or even just a follower.
2. God has a plan for each one of us. We each have a purpose.
3. There may be something in life that may seem desirable. But the grass is not always lush green-there might just be dirt on the other side!
4. Even though we may be timid at times, we must be strong and brave in the Lord!
You can sometimes see Sammie wandering about in both buildings, waiting to greet whomever comes into the door. In her spare time she enjoys sleeping, eating, staring longingly out the window, trying to become the pack leader, and spending time with family.
We envision her favorite Bible verse is, “But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong.” -1 Corinthians 1:27
