Rhonda Burnett
LCPC

Rhonda Burnett is a grounded, no-nonsense therapist whose work is shaped by long-term recovery, real-world grit, and deep respect for the process of change. She brings a calm, steady presence into the therapy room—someone who can sit with hard things without flinching.

Before becoming a therapist, Rhonda lived many chapters of life. She spent years working as a coal miner—a demanding, male-dominated field that required grit, resilience, and the ability to hold her own. That experience, along with her own recovery journey, ultimately led her back to school as a non-traditional student so she could give back to the community that had supported her healing.

Rhonda is in long-term recovery from alcohol use disorder and understands recovery not as a theory, but as a way of life. She went on to earn both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern Illinois University in University Studies and Rehabilitation Counseling.

Rhonda remains actively involved in the recovery community through Celebrate Recovery, where she continues to sponsor and mentor other women. Her faith and commitment to service continue to shape both her personal life and her work as a therapist.

Rhonda works with adults navigating substance use and recovery, grief, anxiety, depression, and co-occurring mental health concerns. She has particular strength in working with codependency and in supporting family members who love someone struggling with addiction or mental illness. She also helps clients navigate major life transitions, including changes in relationships, identity, roles, and functioning. Her approach balances honesty with compassion—she doesn’t sugarcoat, but she also doesn’t judge. Clients often say they feel safe with Rhonda because she understands what it means to do hard things—and keep going.

Rhonda offers clients something powerful and rare: a therapist who has lived what she teaches, who brings both toughness and tenderness into the room, and who believes—deeply and realistically—that change is possible.
