Happy New Year! I’m excited about the possibilities this year brings. Reflecting on last year, it was a transformative journey guided by the Holy Spirit, helping me deepen my understanding of God’s love through Christ Jesus. Therefore, I look forward to next year, as it will enable me to put into practice what I have learned in 2024.

Most years, I would share my aspirations for the upcoming year. However, I’ve come to realize that what I think I need and want is often not aligned with Papa God’s agenda, and His agenda is far superior. This year, I long to embrace the art of surrender, because I truly believe His plans for me are always for my good. Therefore, I want to learn to manage my expectations and surrender to His plan.

“Managing my expectations” isn’t about anticipating disappointment; it’s about staying open to the wonderful ways God might work beyond my plans. I want to embrace His possibilities and trust His guidance, which can lead to incredible surprises and growth.

A couple of years ago, when I first started learning to release expectations, I created a personal slogan to help me let go of my ideas about how I thought God should work on my behalf. Here it is: “I don’t know how. I don’t know when. But I know WHO!” This little saying has helped me stop fighting for my own agenda because, whether I like it or not, God is not my servant; I am His. I am also His beloved daughter, and as the saying goes, “Father knows best.”

Here’s a beautiful truth: He understands our needs even when we don’t! When money gets tight, we often think we need financial provision, but what we truly need is trust and hearts filled with surrender, because we know He will be faithful. We may not know how or when our needs will be met, but when we trust in Him, we can choose to “fear not” and embrace His perfect timing.

Have you ever considered that many of our problems aren’t as awful as they seem? It’s amazing how our perspective can either lift us up or weigh us down. When we anchor our view in God’s love, we can confidently hand over our worries to Him, knowing He will guide us through.

A life lived in surrender and trust will allow us to find true peace and rest, no matter what life throws at us. Because as we all know, when one problem gets dealt with, there is another one on the horizon. We do not find peace from peaceful circumstances. Peace is a person, His name is Jesus, and as we surrender to Him, we gain the “peace that transcends all understanding.”

So, there you have it, my journey in 2024 and  vision for 2025. Last year taught me the important lesson of surrendering and embracing the present moment. This year, I am committed to putting that lesson into action. I firmly believe that adopting this mindset is essential for leading a fulfilling life, rather than getting caught up in the fear of catastrophic what-ifs. Embracing this approach can truly transform our experiences and pave the way for a 2025 that we can enjoy. Like many, I’m tired of struggling through life. Let’s surrender the year to Him!
