Folks, here is day two of our nine day guided prayer and meditation. This is designed to increase your trust in God and decrease your stress. Check out “Roadmap to Surrender” for day one.
Day Two:
Jesus to the soul: “Surrender to me” means do not worry, do not be upset, and do not lose hope; it does not mean offering to me a worried prayer asking me to follow along with your worry. To worry, to be nervous and to desire to think about the consequences of anything is deeply against the surrender I require of you. It is like the confusion that children feel when they ask their mother to see to their needs and then try to take care of those needs for themselves. Their childlike efforts get in their mother’s way. Surrender means to peacefully close the eyes of the soul, to turn away from thoughts of tribulation and to put yourself in my care.
Repeat three times: “Jesus, I surrender myself to you. I trust you to take care of everything.”
Prayer:
Loving Father, I surrender to you today with all my heart and soul. Please come into my heart in a deeper way. I say yes to you today. I open all the secret places of my heart to you and say, “Come, Jesus.” Jesus, you are the Lord of my whole life. I believe in you and receive you as my Lord and Savior. I hold nothing back from you. Holy Spirit, bring me into deeper conversion to the person of Jesus Christ. I surrender all to you: my health, my family, my sexuality, my resources, my occupation, my skills, my relationships, my time management, my successes, and my failures. I release these things and let them go. I surrender my understanding of how things ought to be, my choice, and my will. I surrender to you the promises I have kept and the promises I have failed to keep. I surrender my weaknesses and my strengths to you. I surrender my emotions, my fears, and my insecurities.
Holy Spirit, inspire my mind right now with whatever else I need to surrender.
(prayerful silence)
I especially surrender this to you.
Lord, I surrender my entire life to you – the past, present, and the future. In sickness and in health, in life and death, I belong to you.
Take, Lord, and receive all my freedom, my memory, my intellect, and my will. You have given me all that I have and I return everything now to you. Dispose of me according to your will. Give me only your love and grace, for with this I am rich enough and have no more to ask. Amen
